Jean Paul Gaultier

rood

Jean Paul Gaultier skirt, dress or top from the vintage first line collection "Classique Maille Paris/Made in Italy" in 💯% polyamide material in red with a pattern. CONDITION/SIZE🔽
Pareo made from a high-end material, as the designer chose at the time for these knit creations to collaborate with the specialized label "Fuzzi" which excelled in weaving or knitting techniques with different materials: here a semi-transparent, elastic, extra-fine mesh fabric whose primary quality is its resistance and its ability to hold colors over time. The designer favors varied themes such as corsetry, nautical, tribal, bondage, ancient civilization or folklore through conceptual and hybrid creations, often praised for a fine arts approach. Tattoo mesh pareo model in the iconic "marinière" theme which is so favored by the designer, a fan of naval references. We first discover a velvet red or wine-red background which hosts a very artistic "fine arts" tie-dye pattern. A background with a mineral character on which appear two panels of ecru or light linen colored stripes, in vertical or horizontal lines depending on how it's worn. The edges are entirely overlocked with red thread, these are double and crossed topstitches to provide resistance. You can transform the pareo into a maxi, midi, or short dress, or a maxi or midi skirt, tunic, poncho... Layer it over a bodysuit, leggings.

🌈Vintage condition very good as it was rarely worn but I'm listing it as good for the reason detailed below.⚠️ Brand and size label missing but the signature link is present as well as the Fuzzi collaboration label. As a reminder, this is an artisanal and not industrial creation, micro-irregularities or loose threads may appear. At the time, on the first pareos, they put a plastic elastic in the edge stitching but over time the elastic became hard and brittle, from the 2000s they no longer used these elastics. As this is an old pareo, I had to remove the damaged elastic with tweezers and I caused three micro-snags, all repaired (photos). One repaired tear. The material label is not sewn from the edge (photo). Soft fabric without pilling, no wear from friction. Hand washed, ironed, non-smoking house so no smell except that of organic laundry detergent.

📏Original size M international, will also fit a size
